Pride in Our Veterans

November 11, 2015

Members of the Rutgers Community:

This day, November 11, is set aside each year to honor the contributions that veterans of our armed forces have made to the freedom and security of our nation. Rutgers takes immense pride in the veterans who are enrolled as students across the University, as well as the women and men on our faculty and staff who have served our country in uniform—and the thousands of Rutgers alumni who are veterans.  To each of these individuals, I offer the Rutgers community’s admiration and gratitude.

As you know, the University is firmly committed to supporting the members of our military and veterans as they pursue a Rutgers education through an array of programs and services offered in New Brunswick, Newark, and Camden.  As we continue working to strengthen these efforts, it is gratifying to know that this commitment has been recognized by Military Times’ annual Best for Vets survey, in which Rutgers consistently ranks among the nation’s very best colleges and universities for veterans.  In fact, in the most recent survey, released this week, Rutgers has been ranked No. 5 among all four-year schools in the country.

My thanks to everyone who contributes to making Rutgers a welcoming place for the men and women who have served America with courage.  And again, to all the veterans in our Rutgers family, I wish you and your loved ones a happy Veterans Day.

Sincerely,

Robert Barchi
